Foundation of Long-time Dilworthian
Contributes $5 Million to Mint Museum


The Robert Haywood Morrison Foundation, created by long-time Dilworth Rotary member the late Bob Morrison, will donate $5 million to the Mint Museum to be used in completion of its new uptown facility on Tryon St. Foundation President Cynthia H. Tyson, was quoted in The Charlotte Observer as saying of Bob, "He enjoyed his greatest creativity in his life as an entrepreneur. It gave him much joy and he and Charlotte were most compatible." The Hickory native spent his early career in journalism and the academic world, teaching at the University of Illinois and Winthrop University and running a newspaper in Newton. He later turned to commercial real estate.

As usual, the latest issue of Rotarian is packed with interesting and informative information. There are two articles on mentoring that are describe thusly:
"The postmodern mentor: Wisdom and connections - seasoned professionals pass both on to their younger counterparts."
"The ABCs of mentoring: Some advice on that most valuable business relationship."

There is an article on "The miracle workers." It is a story about Denver Southeast Rotarians and their friends who took computers and expertise to Rwanda and changed lives."

There also is a story about Nelson Yip, an equestrian competitor in the Paralympics, also held this year in China.
