Clubs Directors Modify Meals Policy
To Help Members Hit by Economic Factors
Below is a summary of action taken at the Monday, March 9 board meeting.
SPECIAL MEALS POLICY
Charlotte Dilworth South End Rotary Club
Calendar Year 2009
A number of members are finding it difficult to maintain active membership
in our club due to current economic conditions. Our club is about service
in the community. Maintaining the long term viability of our club is among
the most important charges that we have as individual members. As a means of
helping support our members during this time, current members, those
currently on a leave of absence or senior active status may request a waiver
of their meals expense effective immediately.
The following rules will apply.
1. This benefit is extended to members who are unemployed and to
members who are self-employed or commission-dependent or those who have
suffered a significant loss of income that makes fulfilling their financial
commitment to Rotary difficult.
2. Members seeking this benefit should communicate with Ed King or the
Club president who will jointly approve this change. A monthly report will
be made to the Board of the total number of members receiving the benefit,
but individual names will remain with Ed and the Club President and will
remain strictly confidential.
3. Club dues of $72 per quarter will need to be paid during this
period. EREY contributions are optional.
4. The benefit will be for a three-month period, subject to renewal for
up to two additional three-month periods.
5. Members receiving this benefit are expected to remain active in club
activities and attendance.
6. The Board reserves the right to modify or terminate this program if
necessary or advisable.
7. The board would like to also solicit contributions from the
membership towards helping maintain this policy while limiting the financial
impact to the long term health of the club. Donations should be clearly
marked Rotarians Helping Rotarians and forwarded to Ed and Trish King.
Approved by the Board of Directors March 9, 2009
