Six Dilworth Area Restaurants Sign
To Participate in Dilworth Fund Raising
Fund-raising Chair Kate Richards and her team have signed up six Dilworth
area restaurants which have pledged a portion of their proceeds Wednesday,
Nov. 4 to Charlotte Dilworth South End Rotary Club. The committee has
prospects of signing a few more.
The restaurants that have signed on are: 300 East, Brixx, Dilworth
Neighborhood Grille, Greek Isles, La Paz, and Sullivan's.
Members assisting Kate on this project are: Howard Castleman, Brad Goforth,
Lamar Gunter, Rosemary Hill, David Hodgkins, Ralph Lovejoy, Will McDonald,
Richard Pockat Joy Rucker, Tony Thompson.
We, as members, must participate to make this successful. We need to
patronize one of these restaurants Nov. 4 and let the manager know you are
there because the restaurant is helping your Rotary Club. All the
restaurants except Sullivans serve lunch, so you could have lunch at one
and dinner at another. Ask your friends and relatives to patronize one of
these restaurants on Nov. 4 and to let the manager know they are there to
help Dilworth Rotarys community charitable projects.
The restaurants will be provided with material on Dilworths various
projects, including our clubs participation in the District 7680s Flight
of Honor project.

Membership Committee to Launch Contest
The membership Committee, co-chaired by Fenton Erwin and Joe Smith, will
launch a membership contest Oct. 30 to last through Feb. 27 to attract new
members.
Because new members join after having been guests at a meeting, the
committee is asking members to increase the number of guests at each
meeting. Once a guest has been introduced to Dilworth South End Rotary
Club, the membership committee will contact the guest by letter and by
e-mail. There will be follow-up with the guest and sponsoring member.
The committee will have for each guest some material promoting Rotary and
our club.
The club membership has been been divided into three teams.
Rotary District 7680s 3rd Flight of Honor
Gets Huge Welcome Home at Airport
More than 100 World War II veterans received a heroes welcome Tuesday night
as the returned from a day in Washington, D.C. on their Rotary District 7680
Flight of Honor.
Family, friends and more than 40 Rotarians were there to greet them, cheer
them, shake their hands and thank them for their service. They also were
greeted by an avenue of flags held by the Patriot Guard and some Boy Scouts
in uniform. There also was a high school Junior R.O.T.C. group in uniform.
Past District Governor Joe Morris, one of several Dilworthians there, made
the estimate of the number of Rotarians.
The veterans, ranging in age from 81 to 94 were tired, but delighted with
their experience. Welcoming these men and women home is an uplifting
experience more Dilworth members should experience next spring when the
District sponsors its next Flight of Honor.
