the $250 the Club committed to provide a total of $500 to serve polio

Survivors Support Group for the Metrolina area of NC...to help create
community awareness of Post Polio symptoms and the help Polio
survivors...to support each other in living life to it's fullest...to
encourage Rotarians in Districts 7680,7690, and 7670...to join their
efforts in support of Polio survivors...and to share the results with
other Districts in Rotary Zone 33.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>Polio survivors may experience post-polio syndrome as they grow
older and there will be more about this in later articles.</SPAN><SPAN

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Charlotte Dilworth South
End Rotary Club has joined 21 other District 7680 clubs to promote Honor
Flights for World War II vets.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>Our Board of Directors decided that the club was not in a financial
position to make a contribution, but approved letting a committee of
members promote it and solicit donations through Dilworth Charities to
support this inaugural Honor Flight.</P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p> </o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">The goal of the project is
to send every local World War II Veteran to see the WWII Memorial in
<st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Washington</st1:City>, <st1:State
w:st="on">DC</st1:State></st1:place>. The Memorial was completed in 2004
and since then has been seen by many people young and old, non-Veterans
and Veterans. Thousands of our World War II Veterans have been taken to
the Memorial each year through the generous support of corporate sponsors,
family members and others in our caring communities.</P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><o:p> </o:p></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 12.6pt 0pt 0in">Former District
Governor Mitzi Ellis (not District 7680) is spearheading the project.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>John Barringer asked the club’s
board for approval to solicit donations. Brad Goforth chairs the club
committee on this project.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>The 21 clubs will have to raise $50,000 to pay for a charter flight
to take 100 World War II veterans and 33 guardians to <st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">Washington</st1:State></st1:place>.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>It will cost $500 for each
veteran.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Members who wish to
make a donation to sponsor or contribute toward sponsoring a veteran

available the veterans application for you to print out. (<A

our information line number and how to make a donation to the

MECKLENBURG COUNTY SOUTH, MINT HILL, MONROE, MOORESVILLE – LAKE NORMAN,
MOUNT HOLLY, NORTH MECKLENBURG, SALISBURY, TOP OF THE LAKE, WADESBORO,
WAXHAW-WEDDINGTON.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>We
expect more to come on board as the project builds momentum.<SPAN

sponsoring veterans at a cost of $500 each.<SPAN

your club will receive one volunteer guardian spot for $200.<SPAN

for this project or partnering up with other clubs and organizations.<SPAN

announce a $5,000 donation from Bob and Elizabeth Dole for our district

you know, retired Senator Bob Dole served in the US Army during WW
II.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>He is often at the World
War II Memorial greeting WW II veterans.<SPAN

donation from the Doles to help central NC veterans have this wonderful
