Annual Bluegrass Festival on Saturday, November 7, 2009 in Stumptown Park,
located in Historic Downtown Matthews. The event is a Celebration of Our
Veterans and Our Community, and will feature Bluegrass Music, a Chili
Cook-off, Bike Ride and 5K Race. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

Bike Ride sponsored by Bicycles East in Matthews. Registration for the ride,
which has a fee of $25, will begin at 7:30am and the ride will start at
8:30am. Registration for the 5K Race, which has a fee of $25, will begin at
8:30am and the race will start at 9:30am. Runners and Bike Riders will
receive a free tee-shirt and their registration fee includes admission to the
Bluegrass Festival and Chili Cook-Off. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

color:#3C3C3C;letter-spacing:.6pt'>The Chili Cook-Off, beginning at 11:00am,
will consist of 12 to15 Teams, including local organizations, businesses,
restaurants and others, who will be providing samples of their chili to be
judged. The judges for the contest are those attending! Buying a ticket
allows attendees to taste each team’s chili and pick their top three.
Prizes are awarded to the winners. This is a fun event that everyone can
participate in! Tickets for the event are $5.00 per person for all ages, and
are available on the day of the Cook-Off or from the Matthews Rotary Club. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

of the proceeds from the event will benefit the North Carolina National Guard
Soldiers and Airmen Assistance Fund. Throughout the State of North Carolina,
Army and Air Guardsmen are called to mobilization duty for our country, or
our state for natural disasters and other required duties. In the absence of
their Soldier or Airman, families are dealing with the challenging issues of
day-to-day life. Sometimes our Soldiers and Airmen suffer job loss, illness,
unexpected expenses, or disasters, which place them in financial need. The
Fund supplements financial emergencies that occur within families that have a
parent deployed and helps them through these difficult times. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
